McKinney Red White and BOOM 2026: The Complete Guide to Times Parking and What to Bring
McKinneys biggest celebration of the year is back. Red White and BOOM the citys annual Independence Day event presented by the City of McKinney returns July 4 2026 with a full day of activity stretching from a morning parade in historic downtown to a concert drone show and fireworks finale at Towne Lake Park. Here is everything you need to know before you head out.
The Full Day Schedule
The celebration kicks off in downtown McKinney at 10 am with the Hometown Parade followed immediately by the East Louisiana Block Party running from 11 am to 2 pm. Families can also explore the restaurants and shops that line downtown McKinneys historic square throughout the afternoon. The main evening event at Towne Lake Park located at 1405 Wilson Creek Pkwy runs from 6 to 10 pm. Here is the complete minute by minute schedule for the evening:
6:00 pm — Event opens at Towne Lake Park
6:30 to 7:45 pm — 80s Mix Tape Performance
7:45 to 8:00 pm — Stage Break
8:00 to 8:30 pm — 80s Mix Tape Performance
8:30 to 8:45 pm — Mayor Welcome Star Spangled Banner and Flyover
8:45 to 9:40 pm — 80s Mix Tape Performance
9:40 to 10:00 pm — Drone and Fireworks Show
Fireworks will be launched from the Grady Littlejohn Softball Fields with viewing from Towne Lake Park. The city reminds all residents that personal fireworks are illegal within McKinney city limits. Do not attempt to use personal fireworks anywhere in the city on July 4th.
Parking and Getting There
Parking at McKinney High School is NOT available for this event. All designated parking lots have limited ADA parking available. The city asks that attendees be courteous and not park in surrounding neighborhoods. Use designated lots only.
The city has set up two ways to get to Towne Lake Park for the evening event.
Park and Ride with continuous ADA shuttle service to and from the event:
First McKinney Baptist Church at 1615 W Louisiana St — enter off Rockhill Rd or S Graves St.
Al Ruschhaupt Soccer Complex Phase 1 at 1986 Park View Ave.
Park and Walk within walking distance of the event:
McKinney Senior Recreation Center at 1400 S College St.
Collin Central Appraisal District at 250 Eldorado Pkwy.
Road closures on July 4th will affect the following streets — times may vary:
Wilson Creek Pkwy, Park View Ave, S Graves St, Yosemite Pl, Bruce Luster Pl, Gerry R Ln, Big Bend Dr, Bridlegate Dr, Veranda View, Rockhill Rd, Creek Trail Bridge and Steeple Ridge Ct. The Towne Lake Park entrance will also be closed during the event. Plan your alternate routes before you leave home.
The city strongly advises against pulling over on roadways to watch the fireworks display as stopping on the side of roads poses significant safety risks including accidents and traffic congestion. Use designated viewing areas inside the park only.
Rideshare services are a convenient option and drop-off near the event entrance is available.
What to Bring
Permitted items: Lawn chairs and blankets. Coolers with food snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
Not permitted at the event: Alcohol. Canopies. Glass containers. On-site grilling. Weapons except legally permitted firearms.
Pets: The City of McKinney recommends leaving non-service animals at home to avoid being frightened by the fireworks. For pet safety tips visit the McKinney Animal Services page at mckinneytexas.org.
Safety at the Event
Information booths located on the north south and east sides of the event grounds will provide lost child bands and lost and found services. First aid tents will be positioned on the north south and east sides of the grounds throughout the evening.
If you are bringing children with you agree on a designated meeting point before entering the event in case anyone gets separated in the crowd.
Photography Policy: Photos taken during the event by the City of McKinney are subject to use in future promotional materials and are the property of the City of McKinney. Entering the event grounds allows the City of McKinney to use your photo.
