Frisco Celebrates America's 250th Birthday with Freedom Fest and America250 Events
Frisco is going all-in on America's 250th birthday this July 4th with a packed lineup of events that reflect the city's rapid growth into one of the most celebrated communities in the nation. The centerpiece is the annual Frisco Freedom Fest, taking place July 4th at Frisco Commons Park. The event features live music, family activities, food vendors, and one of the largest fireworks displays in Collin County. Gates open at 5 p.m. with fireworks launching at approximately 9:30 p.m. As part of the national America250 commemoration — marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence — Frisco has partnered with local organizations to offer a series of events through the summer and into December. What's happening in Frisco this summer: "Becoming the United States" — A special exhibit at the Frisco Heritage Center running through December, developed in partnership with the Daughters of the American Revolution. The exhibit traces the nation's journey from revolutionary sparks to a unified republic through historic documents, period clothing, and hands-on displays. Liberty Lantern Trail — Open through July 31 at Jimmy and Clara Jones Park, this illuminated trail walks visitors through key moments of the American Revolution, ending at the Frisco Heritage Center. "Road Trip Across America" — An art exhibition running July 1 through September 26 at the Grand Gallery inside the Frisco Discovery Center. A public reception is scheduled for July 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. Powdered Wig Party and Hamilton Sing-Along — Dress up like it's 1776 and sing along to the musical Hamilton at The Nack Theater. Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney has emphasized the city's commitment to civic celebration, calling the America250 anniversary a once-in-a-lifetime moment for a city that has itself grown dramatically over the past 25 years. With a population now exceeding 230,000, Frisco has transformed from a small farming community into one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. This July 4th gives longtime residents and newcomers alike a chance to reflect on both national history and the city's own remarkable story.
